“From the quality of the camera shots, to the edited together images of global destruction, to the sleek physical theatre sequences; there is such a high standard of execution and attention to detail.”

Anthropocene: The Human Era

What does the future hold for us, our children, and our planet?

Maybe by imagining the future, we can make it real. Maybe not.

Anthropocene: The Human Era takes you inside the mind of Megan, a young woman confronting her future in the shadow of the climate emergency. As she stares down at a pregnancy test in her bathroom, time bends and fractures, leading her—and you—through a multiple-choice journey shaped by your decisions. Inspired by Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Gecko Theatre’s Time of Your Life, this immersive story explores the weight of choice in an uncertain world.

💡 Our fate is in your hands.

An OFFIE Award-winning immersive film, Anthropocene has been screened internationally, from a climate festival at Eden Court in Inverness to a translation project in Grenoble, France. Originally created during the pandemic using EKO software, the project was a triumph of collaboration against the odds, and we remain deeply grateful to our partners and creative team.

While the original interactive experience is no longer available due to EKO’s closure, we’ve preserved Anthropocene in two curated versions named Coffee & Juice on our YouTube channel. You can also explore additional resources, images, and behind-the-scenes insights here.

This is one of our proudest moments as a company—one that continues to resonate. 🌍✨

“Anthropocene: The Human Era heralds GymJam as stars of the future who offer an insight into how theatre after the pandemic can be thought-provoking and inspiring, and incite its audience into action beyond the world of make-believe”

Making Anthropocene was no easy feat. On top of the fact none of us had actually made a film before, and the obvious obstacles that COVID through up - None of us had used EKO the software tool that enabled us to offer viewers agency and choice to affect their experience and Megan’s story. Below you will see a cheat sheet that we shared with audience that maps out all of the decision points and different routes to take through this experience. Sadly, EKO has shut its studio - but we have curated two versions of the Film Coffee & Juice. We have also uploaded some extra bonus content like Chris Murray’s hauntingly beautiful animation - inspired by drawings by children about the future.
